Ancillary Benefits

The following Ancillary Benefits are available at Safrican:

Paid-up on Death Benefit:
Should the Principal Member die before cessation age (retirement age), any immediate dependants (where applicable) will remain covered for funeral benefits as per the policy with no further premiums payable, until the end of the month in which the Principal Member would have attained cessation age.

Paid-up on Disablement Benefit:
In the event of the Principal Member becoming totally and permanently disabled prior to cessation age (retirement age), to such an extent that he / she is unable to follow any occupation for remuneration or gain, Safrican will waive all premium payments for the Principal Member, until the end of the month that he / she would have attained cessation age. Cover will be extended to the Principal Member, and any eligible dependants who enjoyed funeral benefits at the time the disablement occurs.

Extended Family Benefit:
Provided the Basic Funeral Benefit scheme qualifies, Extended Family Cover may be elected by paying an additional premium. This option allows the Principal Member to cover: parents, parents-in-law, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, and any immediate children over age 21 years.

<B>Accidental Death Benefit:
In addition to the Basic Funeral Benefit, this benefit may be selected in order that should the life assured, as specified in the policy, die as a direct result of any bodily injury caused by violent and accidental means, and sustained by him / her while having funeral cover, an additional benefit will be paid together with the funeral benefit. An additional rate will be added to the premium for this cover option.

Memorial Benefit:
The Memorial Benefit, shall pay out an additional benefit, to the Basic Funeral benefit, as stated in the schedule of benefits on the first anniversary date of the death of either a Principal Member or his / her spouse, where a valid death claim has been settled by Safrican, should this option be selected and the correct additional premium is paid.

Repatriation Benefit:
This is a service that renders, via a tollfree number, assistance to a bereaved family with regard to: Funeral / cremation arrangements, repatriation of mortal remains within South Africa, obtaining death certificate, counseling, legal assistance, assisting with Will / estate of deceased, by paying an additional premium to the Basic Funeral benefit.

Paid-up on Retirement Benefit:
Upon reaching cessation age, the Principal Member and eligible immediate dependants will remain covered, without any further premiums payable.

The abovementioned benefits may be added to the Basic Funeral Plan, in accordance to their specific terms and conditions, as noted on the respective Fact Sheets.
